Netflix has unveiled a first look at its upcoming survival thriller Apex, led by Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by Jeremy Robbins.

The film centers on Sasha, a grieving rock climber played by Theron, who retreats into the remote Australian wilderness hoping to push her limits and find peace. Instead, she becomes the target of a brutal pursuit orchestrated by Egerton’s character, turning her journey into a life-or-death game. “A grieving woman testing her limits in the Australian wilderness is suddenly ensnared in a deadly game with a ruthless predator,” an official description reads.

The story unfolds in a secluded national park, where Sasha’s encounter with Egerton’s mysterious figure quickly turns sinister. After discovering her gear has been stolen, she learns he is behind it—setting the stage for a chilling chase. With the warning “Hunt or be hunted” looming, he gives her a brief head start before tracking her through rugged terrain armed with a crossbow.

What follows is a relentless pursuit across forests, caves, cliffs, and rushing rivers, showcasing the film’s intense, survival-driven action. The movie was filmed on location in New South Wales, including the striking Blue Mountains, adding to its raw, immersive setting. Eric Bana also appears in a supporting role.
