Timberwolves top Warriors to advance to finals; Celtics stay alive with win over Knicks

The Minnesota Timberwolves are heading to the Western Conference finals for the second straight year, after topping the Golden State Warriors with a 121-110 victory in Game 5 on Wednesday night at Target Center.

Julius Randle scored 29 points on 13-for-18 shooting, with Anthony Edwards had 22 points and 12 assists.

The Wolves will face the winner of the Denver Nuggets-Oklahoma City Thunder series.

The Boston Celtics avoided elimination after defeating the NY Knicks 127-102 in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series on Wednesday night at TD Garden.

The Celtics win came without star player Jayson Tatum, who tore his Achilles in Monday’s Game 4 and will miss the remainder of this playoff run (and potentially all of next season). Boston’s Derrick White scored a game-high 34 points with seven 3-pointers, and Jaylen Brown added 26 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds.to help clinch the game.

The Knicks head into Game 6 leading the series 3-2; the teams will face-off at Madison Square Garden on on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
